APEX Engineering, Inc. was founded in 1993 by Richard Anderson and Daniel Peterson. Over more than three decades, the firm has grown from its Eau Claire roots into a trusted mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering partner serving clients throughout Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest.
Justin Musser joined APEX in 1999, became an owner in 2018, and assumed the role of President in 2022. Landon Julson joined the company in 2017 and became an owner and Vice President in 2025. With Rick's retirement in 2022 and Dan's retirement in 2025, APEX completed its transition to the firm's next generation of leadership.
The APEX name originated with Anderson Peterson Engineering Services—or “APES.” Deciding that wasn't quite the professional image they were after, Rick and Dan settled on APEX, joking that the “X” stood for “eXtraordinaires.” The name stuck, and so did the firm's commitment to practical, responsive engineering.

What We Do
We provide complete MEP engineering services from initial investigation through construction, including existing system analysis, preliminary design, budgeting, construction documents, specifications, bidding, and construction administration.
We work closely with owners, architects, contractors, commissioning agents, and Focus on Energy representatives to deliver practical solutions tailored to each project's needs.
